DAY 1
Dan was in Las Vegas for a work expo before we went to Disney.
The plan was we would fly to LAX, Dan would fly to LAX, we'd land within 5 minutes of each other, find a ride and head to Disney. The plan worked!
Our headboards lit up and played "When you wish upon a star."
You may have heard that California got a TON of rain in early February. When we arrived it was rainy but I packed umbrellas and ponchos. We only needed a raincoat for Lydia on afternoon #1. We unpacked and set off to explore our Disneyland Hotel.
The first night we had Goofy's Kitchen reservations and good thing we showed up because Goofy invited a lot of friends over for dinner! We met Chip and Dale, Minnie Mouse, and Pluto. Lydia did not want to meet Goofy. Not at dinner, not at the parks, nope.
DAY 2
We spent the 2nd day making sure the rain was going to get out of our way.
We went and explored all three resort hotels, took a drawing class, went swimming, and shopped all over downtown Disney so we wouldn't have to shop at the parks.
Lydia looked at hundreds of pairs of ears and landed on classic Minnie.
We weren't too excited to venture out again after being all snuggly and warm after swimming.
Room service was definitely the right choice! We ate and watched The Incredibles 2.
DAY 3
Sunshine and smiles!
Ready to hit the Grand California Adventure Park.
First stop, Pixar Pier!
I think I may have been more excited to meet Helen Parr than Lydia was.
She got to hang with Boo Peep and see Woody and Jessie.
Dad got to spend some time roaming around Radiator Springs.
After a Lunar New Year Parade we headed across the way to the main event.
Disneyland!
And Cruella was waiting for us...
Went toured that dark castle of Sleeping Beauty's and entered into the timeless fantasyland, complete with all the creepiest classic rides. Pinocchio, Snow White, Toad's Wild Ride and Peter Pan.
After that fun we settled in for an afternoon parade down main street.
Lydia ate cheese popcorn. Dan had a root beer float.
I enjoyed a delicious mint ice-cream sundae.
I took so many pictures at the parade - it was really awesome!
More classic rides that cannot be missed.
Teacups only once.
It's a Small World, three times in two days.
Day 4
After we all slept like babies the minute our head hit the pillow, we did it again!
We were ready to spend Red Friday in the Kingdom!
Tomorrowland delivered with no wait times on Autopia!
You're on a track, so no racing but you can bet we would have won!
Scrunched into the ol' 20,000 Leagues Under Sea subs that have
magically transformed into Finding Nemo submarine rides.
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was a ton of fun.
Toy Story Midway Mania on Pixar Pier is the same concept but way better!
We headed back to main street to have Breakfast at the Plaza Inn.
Minnie Mouse was our host and we met so many of her good friends.
Oh and Mom had Tiramisu for breakfast!
Once fueled up with breakfast we went through Fantasyland for Alice in Wonderland, the Storybook Boats, Dad rode the Matterhorn Bobsleds, while Lydia and I danced and snacked through a long line for Minnie & Mickey's Runaway Railroad. It was such a good ride!
Make way, make way! It's Moana! While we were waiting in line for Moana we suddenly noticed many more people wandering about and the lines for rides at a standstill. EARTHQUAKE! Yes, an earthquake that we did not feel shut down every ride in the park for about an hour. We chatted with Moana, explored a Galaxy far far away, met Chewbacca from afar, and ended up in Adventureland exploring an island.
Red from Pirates of the Caribbean gave Lydia a pirate name!!! Yeah, I know!
She asked her name and her favorite color. Lydia said purple...so Lavender Lydia she became.
Day 5
Until next time, California.
